FC Schalke 04 procures Elements

German soccer club FC Schalke 04 enters European League Championship Series

FC Schalke 04, a German soccer club, has acquired Elements’ spot in the European League Championship Series (EU LCS). The club has also finalized their roster.

Elements roster remains mostly intact

Most of Elements’ roster will stay with the team, including top-laner Etienne “Steve” Michels, jungler Berk “Gilius” Demir, AD carry Rasmus “MrRalleZ” Skinneholm, support Hampus “sprattel” Abrahamsson, and head coach Patrick “Nyph” Funke. However, mid-laner Jeremy “Eika” Valdenaire will be replaced by former Unicorns of Love mid-laner Hampus “Fox” Myhre.

Significant investment in competitive League of Legends

This investment by FC Schalke 04 marks a significant move in the world of competitive League of Legends. While other professional sports clubs have invested in eSports, this is one of the most noteworthy instances. NRG eSports and Echo Fox from the North American LCS also have investors from the professional sports world, and Beşiktaş J.K. owns a team in the Turkish League of Legends.

FC Schalke 04 Esports will start competing in the EU LCS on June 2.

Will more clubs follow?

It remains to be seen if other major clubs will follow in Schalke’s footsteps and enter the world of eSports. Share your thoughts in the comments or on our Twitter page @GAMURScom to stay updated on all your eSports needs.
