Faker’s anticipated return from injury postponed, missing original comeback date

T1 Mid Laner Faker Still Out with Arm Injury, Return Date Pushed Back

Faker, the legendary mid laner for T1, has been unable to compete in matches for the entire month of July due to an arm injury he sustained on July 2. This includes T1’s recent 2-0 loss to Hanwha Life Esports.

Originally, Faker was expected to make his comeback today, but his return date has been delayed. Mid lane substitute Poby has been filling in for Faker in the team’s last five matches. Today, Faker was once again absent from the roster.

Moving forward, it is unlikely that Faker will be able to play again during the 2023 regular season. T1’s goal is to have Faker back in time for the LCK playoffs, which are set to begin on Aug. 8.

According to T1’s interim head coach Tom, Faker is still focusing on his treatment and his condition is the most important factor. The team will announce separately if Faker is able to play.

Impact on T1’s Performance and Playoff Hopes

With Faker’s extended absence, T1 has had a rough run in the matches he’s missed. They currently hold a record of 1-4, with all four losses being 2-0 sweeps. Prior to Faker’s injury, T1 had a strong record of 6-2 and were in contention for a top spot in the LCK playoff bracket. However, they now sit firmly in fifth place, with a first-round bye becoming unlikely.

Fortunately for T1, their remaining matches are against teams with poor records of 3-10. This gives them a chance to avoid a collapse and secure a playoff spot with just one or two wins.

Next Match and Potential Return Date for Faker

T1’s next match is scheduled for Sunday, July 23 against BRION. If Faker is able to return in time, he will likely be back on stage for the playoffs starting on Aug. 8, although the effects of his treatment could impact his performance.
