T1’s Faker Carries Team to Victory in 2021 LCK Summer Split
In the seventh week of the 2021 LCK Summer Split, Faker helped T1 secure a 2-1 series victory over Afreeca Freecs. Faker was the standout performer in all three games, earning both MVP votes for his stellar performances on Ryze. Although T1 lost the second game, Faker’s strong performance throughout the series was crucial.
In the first game, Faker dominated his lane against Orianna and then roamed to the side lanes with his ultimate to help his team gain leads. In the third game, despite laning against the powerful champion LeBlanc, Faker had no issues dealing with the assassin. He scaled well throughout the match, reaching his full build and taking over the game.
After T1’s methodical approach in the first game, where they focused on scaling and securing objectives, they outplayed Afreeca in the later stages of the match. Faker and Gumayusi’s strong performances on Ashe and Ryze sealed the victory for T1.
However, Afreeca made a strong comeback in the second game by playing the scaling game themselves. With Tristana, Zoe, and Aphelios in their composition, they were able to match Faker’s Ryze. T1 tried to make a heroic play at the end but fell short due to a lack of damage.
In the deciding game, Faker once again dominated his lane and carried through the side lanes. His well-executed ultimates on Ryze created opportunities for his teammates, and their coordinated attacks overwhelmed the opponents.
With this victory, T1 climbed to third place in the LCK standings with a record of 8-5. The team has shown significant improvement in recent weeks after making changes to their coaching staff and roster.
T1’s next match will be against Liiv SANDBOX on Saturday, July 24. Liiv SANDBOX has been performing exceptionally well in recent matches.
