Excel extend MAD Lions’ losing streak to five in 2022 LEC Spring Split

Excel Esports Defeats MAD Lions in 2022 LEC Spring Split

Excel Esports secured a victory over the reigning LEC champions, MAD Lions, in the 2022 LEC Spring Split. The match saw Excel’s top laner, Finn, excel on the pocket pick Kled, resulting in a strong performance for the team.

In the nearing end of the regular season, both Excel and MAD were vying for the final playoff spots. Finn’s impressive performance on Kled against Armut’s Aatrox gave Excel an early advantage. With a scoreline of 3/0/1 at the 11-minute mark, Finn proved to be a formidable force.

Excel capitalized on their advantage and prioritized pressure on the top side, securing the first tower of the game. MAD’s mid laner, Reeker, managed to solo kill Nukeduck, narrowing the gold gap. However, Excel’s AD carry, Patrik, quickly reset the kill with a skilled outplay.

MAD attempted to make plays on the map, destroying Excel’s tier-one bottom turret. However, each time MAD gained an objective or a kill, Excel reciprocated, maintaining control. Through coordinated plays in the bottom lane, Excel destroyed MAD’s tier-two turret and the tier-one mid lane turret, solidifying their lead.

This lead continued to grow as Excel obliterated MAD in a fight near the mid lane at the 20-minute mark and secured Baron. Excel utilized the Baron buff to break open MAD’s base, leaving the reigning LEC champions struggling to stall the game.

This dream of a comeback quickly faded as Excel’s jungler, Markoon, engaged onto MAD’s mid laner, sealing the deal with a 25-minute victory. The win marks the start of week seven for the 2022 LEC Spring Split.

With this win, Excel improves their record to 8-6 in the LEC Spring Split, positioning themselves for a potential playoff spot. MAD, on the other hand, finds themselves in a troublesome territory with a 5-9 record and a five-game losing streak. They currently sit in seventh place behind Team Vitality.

MAD will aim to revive their playoff chances in their upcoming match against Fnatic. Excel, on the other hand, will strive to solidify their playoff spot as they face off against Rogue, the top team in the LEC.
