Evil Geniuses Officially Separates from Four Members of its LoL Starting Lineup

Evil Geniuses makes sweeping changes to its League of Legends roster

Evil Geniuses has been making waves since its return to the North American League of Legends scene in 2020. The organization quickly became a fan-favorite, but a disappointing Spring Split in 2023 has led to major changes within the team.

The roster has been completely overhauled, with top laner Kim “Ssumday” Chan-ho, AD carry Victor “FBI” Huang, jungler Kacper “Inspired” Słoma, and support Philippe “Vulcan” Laflamme all parting ways with the organization.

Only mid lane star Joseph “jojopyun” Pyun remains on the roster, entering his fourth LCS season this summer. The team has also released head coach Aleš “Freeze” Kněžínek and assistant coach Albert “H4xDefender” Ong as part of the reset.

While replacements haven’t been announced yet, reports suggest that Evil Geniuses plans to field a budget roster for the upcoming Summer Split. The organization has been one of the highest spenders in the LCS over the past few off-seasons.

Evil Geniuses has faced internal issues and rumors that have tarnished its image among esports fans, including allegations of mistreatment towards former AD carry Kyle “Danny” Sakamaki. Rebuilding is now essential, with Jojopyun as the centerpiece of the new roster.

Opportunities for free agents

With the roster changes, four talented players are now free agents and are likely to attract attention from teams worldwide. For instance, Vulcan, a veteran North American player, has recently signed with a European talent agency, leading many fans to believe he may make the jump to the LEC.
