Evil Geniuses Clinches 2021 LCS Coaching Staff of the Year Recognition

The LCS Reveals Evil Geniuses as Coaching Staff of the Year

Evil Geniuses (EG) has been named Coaching Staff of the Year by the LCS in its first round of end-of-season awards. Led by head coach Peter Dun and supported by assistant coaches Conor “Artemis” Doyle and Gabriel “Turtle” Peixoto, EG’s coaching staff earned this honor after the team’s third-place finish in the 2021 LCS regular season. The coaching staffs of 100 Thieves, TSM, Golden Guardians, and Immortals also received first-place votes.

EG’s Back-Half Domination and Roster Changes

EG started the season with a relatively lackluster performance but exploded in the summer, emerging as a contender for the LCS title. If the LCS retained its traditional format of resetting teams’ records for the Summer Split, EG would have tied for first place with their impressive 18-9 record in the second half of the season.

A major factor in EG’s success was their midseason roster swap, bringing in rookie ADC Danny to replace Deftly. This move made history, as Danny became the first player in LCS history to make their league debut without playing in the Academy scene. Danny proved to be a valuable addition, posting impressive stats and ranking among the top three LCS ADCs in terms of KDA and DPM.

The Effective Use of Substitute Players

In addition to the successful roster change, EG’s coaching staff effectively utilized substitute players throughout the season. Veteran jungler Contractz proved to be a potent weapon off the bench, with EG winning every game he appeared in. The ability to leverage substitute players provided EG with greater flexibility and contributed to their overall success.

Looking Ahead to the Playoffs

After winning 18 of their final 24 games, EG will enter the playoffs with momentum as they prepare to face Dignitas in the first round. With their strong coaching staff and talented roster, EG aims to continue their late-season surge and make a deep playoff run.
