Evelynn Dominates Korean Solo Queue as Top Jungler

Evelynn’s Rework: From Worst to Best

Evelynn’s rework was two months ago, but she didn’t start off well. Her winrate dropped and many called her update a failure. However, she has been steadily climbing the ladder and now, she’s the best of the best.

In Korean solo queue, Evelynn is at the top of the jungle ladder after passing Rammus, who was nerfed last week in Patch 7.24b, according to League of Legends stats site OP.gg.

Why Did Evelynn Become the Best?

One of the main reasons was that players didn’t know how to play her. They complained about her lack of stealth until level six, making her early game too weak. However, in the weeks that followed her release, players started to understand her new playstyle.

Evelynn doesn’t play like the old Evelynn. She excels in picking off victims one at a time, rather than being a teamfight monster. If there’s more than one victim, too much crowd control, or if she can’t kill her mark in under four seconds, she has to retreat.

Once players understood that she is very different from what they were used to, her winrate started to gradually climb. The new rune system, with tools like Celerity, Waterwalking, and Relentless Hunter, has also helped her close in on her victims faster and increase her damage.

The Future of Evelynn

Evelynn may be nerfed in the future now that she’s on top, but she’s performing just slightly better than other top junglers. It would be hard to justify nerfing her without also addressing other strong junglers like Sejuani and Shyvana.

If you decide to try Evelynn now that she seems stronger, be aware that she may be difficult to learn. However, once you understand her unique playstyle, she can be extremely fun to play.
