2021 European Masters Spring Tournament Sets New Records for Viewership

The 2021 European Masters Spring tournament has concluded, leaving League of Legends fans worldwide buzzing with excitement. This year’s event witnessed a significant surge in viewership compared to the previous year, highlighting the growth of the EU League scene beyond the LEC.

According to Esports Charts, the final best-of-five match between BT Excel and Karmine Corp. reached a peak of 377,000 viewers. Throughout the tournament, the average viewership surpassed 88,000, resulting in over 7.6 million hours watched.

Compared to last year’s Spring European Masters, where only 144,000 viewers tuned in at its peak and an average of just over 48,000, this year’s record-breaking numbers indicate a remarkable improvement. It also showcases the region’s increasing support for non-LEC League events and the opportunities it provides for aspiring players to transition from the European Regional Leagues to the LEC.

The tournament’s popularity reached levels comparable to major regions this season. For instance, the North American LCS’s Spring Split finals between Cloud9 and Team Liquid attracted a peak viewership of 415,000.

Karmine Corp. and BT Excel delivered an exciting showdown, engaging viewers with four thrilling games and intense competition. In the end, the French team emerged victorious.

If you can’t get enough of competitive League of Legends action, you’re in luck—MSI 2021 kicks off next week on Thursday, May 6.
