Europe upsets Korea as NA faces ongoing challenges in second day of groups at Worlds 2022

Europe and China shine in the early stages of League of Legends Worlds 2022

The League of Legends World Championship is well underway, and teams are realizing the importance of a strong start for their journey to the knockout stage. Early victories can build momentum and provide an advantage in understanding the meta.

After two days of the main event group stage, European and Chinese fans have plenty to celebrate as their teams dominated, while North American and LCK fans were left disappointed. This year’s group stage promises to be incredibly competitive, with fierce battles for the top two spots in each group.

Europe’s Thriving in Worlds 2022

European fans were momentarily stunned when MAD Lions were eliminated, but they quickly regained confidence thanks to strong performances from Rogue, G2 Esports, and Fnatic. These teams have demonstrated coordination and skill, with only one loss between them throughout the group stage. They are well-positioned to advance to the knockout stage.

LCK and LCS Struggle on Day Two

In contrast, the LCK and LCS representatives had a tough day, failing to secure a single victory. The teams from DRX, DWG KIA, T1, EG, and C9 seemed outmatched in terms of team composition and decision-making.

Despite these early setbacks, there is still time for teams to bounce back. The second half of the group stage has historically seen top teams crumble, while underdogs rise to the occasion.

To provide some hope for NA fans, it’s worth remembering that C9 had a rocky start in last year’s Worlds but managed to mount a comeback and secure a thrilling tiebreaker victory. This tournament has the potential to deliver more memorable moments and heart-pounding matches.

Worlds 2022 action resumes on October 9 at 4pm CT.
