EDG Allegedly Suing League of Legends Pro Scout for Contract Disagreement

Chinese Organization EDward Gaming Sues Former League of Legends Star Scout over Contract Dispute

Chinese organization EDward Gaming is suing its former star player Scout over a contract dispute. The news was shared on Chinese forums and circulated on Reddit and Twitter. LPL Fanclub, a fan page, reported that the organization is taking legal action against its former mid laner due to a breach of contract related to a previous dispute. The exact details of the dispute are unknown, but it is clear that EDward Gaming believes Scout has violated his contract.

In December, it was reported that Scout had signed a contract with an LCK team after the 2021 League of Legends World Championship, despite still being under contract with EDward Gaming. At that time, EDward Gaming attempted to retain its Worlds-winning roster and raised salaries, including Scout’s, to keep the team together. However, Scout traveled to South Korea in search of better offers but ultimately returned to China and EDward Gaming. As a result of the contract turmoil, his salary in 2022 was reportedly twice as high as in 2021, according to EDward Gaming’s owner via LPL Fanclub.

In 2022, Scout continued to play for EDward Gaming but the team did not perform well in the LPL Spring Split. However, they secured a spot at Worlds 2022 by winning the LPL Regional Finals. Unfortunately, they were eliminated in the quarterfinals by eventual winners, DRX.

Scout Joins LNG Esports After Leaving EDG

Last year, Scout ended his six-and-a-half-year tenure with EDward Gaming and joined another Chinese team, LNG Esports. As of now, LNG Esports is ranked fourth in the 2023 LPL Summer Split and has secured a spot in the upcoming playoffs.
