Echo Fox secures an LCS playoff spot with a victory against CLG

Exciting Finish to Regular Season for Echo Fox

It all came down to the last day of the regular season for Echo Fox. They started with an upset victory over Team Liquid, the top team in North America.

Today, Echo Fox faced off against CLG, a team with the same 7-10 record. A win for either team would secure a spot in the 2019 LCS Spring Split playoffs, while a loss would mean elimination.

A Back-and-Forth Match

The game began with CLG invading Echo Fox’s jungle, resulting in the first blood for Raymond “Wiggily” Griffin. This set the tone for an aggressive game between the two teams. CLG had a strong lineup with Zoe in the mid lane, Neeko in the top lane, and a Lucian, providing heavy damage. Despite falling behind in kills, CLG had a significant gold lead in the early game.

However, in the mid game, Echo Fox managed to turn things around. Despite being down 4,000 gold, they had a 5-3 kill advantage over CLG. With a team composition that excelled in team fights, Echo Fox forced a fight in the mid lane, resulting in a triple kill for Apollo Price and a reversed gold lead.

With the momentum on their side, Echo Fox continued to apply pressure on CLG. They controlled the map, making it difficult for CLG to contest objectives. In the end, Echo Fox picked off four CLG players in the jungle before securing the Baron and closing out the game.

In the final fight at CLG’s Nexus, Apollo achieved a pentakill, aided by a fountain dive from Echo Fox. With this victory, Echo Fox secured the final spot in the playoffs as the sixth seed. This marks the fourth consecutive year that Echo Fox has qualified for the playoffs. They will now face TSM in the first round of the playoffs in a best-of-five series.
