Echo Fox parts ways with FeniX, Adrian, and Altec, in talks with Cloud9 for Smoothie’s transfer.

Echo Fox Makes Multiple Changes to its League of Legends Roster

Echo Fox is making some big changes to its League of Legends roster ahead of week six of the North American LCS. According to a report by ESPN’s Jacob Wolf, the team is releasing starting marksman Johnny “Altec” Ru, mid laner Kim “FeniX” Jae-hoon, and support player Adrian Ma. In addition, Echo Fox is working with Cloud9 to reach a buyout for former starting support Andy “Smoothie” Ta.

New Players Joining the Roster

In place of Altec, Academy League ADC Lawrence “Lost” Hui will be joining the Echo Fox roster. FeniX announced his release from the team earlier today, and the other roster changes were previously unknown to the public.

A Shake-Up for Echo Fox

These changes come after former head coach Nick “Inero” Smith left the organization a few weeks ago. Echo Fox has been inconsistent this split, often delivering shaky performances despite having strong individual players. The team’s tendency to overcommit to poor fights, especially in the mid and late game, has been a major issue. It’s likely that these roster changes are meant to breathe new life into the struggling team.

Potential Starting Lineup

If the report is true, Echo Fox could potentially field a starting lineup consisting of Huni, jungler Joshua “Dardoch” Hartnett, Damonte, Lost, and Smoothie. While this may not be the strongest roster ever assembled, it certainly has enough star power to make waves in the NA LCS.

Update July 24 12:19pm CT: Both Echo Fox and Smoothie have confirmed via Twitter that the buyout has gone through.

Update July 26 10:30am CT: Lost’s promotion to the starting Echo Fox roster and Smoothie’s transfer to the organization have been confirmed in a statement from Echo Fox.

“Having both Smoothie and Lost on our starting roster is very exciting for everyone at Echo Fox,” said Jared Jeffries, President of Echo Fox. “Smoothie had been a leading player during his time on Cloud9, and Lost has shown incredible growth on our Academy team. Both players show a lot of promise, so we look forward to seeing what they can do.”
