Boston-based DraftKings Announces Sponsorship Deal for Leading Esports Organizations

Boston-based fantasy sports company DraftKings has announced a sponsorship deal for six of the top esports organizations in North America and Europe. The deal will primarily focus on organizations in the competitive gaming space of League of Legends and will also incorporate fantasy gaming on the DraftKings site for League of Legends.

The six esports organizations involved in the multi-million dollar deal, brokered by esports talent agency IMG, are Cloud9, Team SoloMid, Counter Logic Gaming, SK Gaming, CompLexity Gaming, and Mousesports.

DraftKings Expands Into Esports with Fantasy Contest

DraftKings is expanding its offerings to include fantasy esports contests, starting on October 1, 2015, coinciding with the start of the League of Legends World Championships. Participants will have the option to play for free or compete against others in cash prize leagues, with a $3 entry fee contest featuring $25,000 in prizes.

Enhancing the Esports Experience with New Partnerships

DraftKings’s CRO and co-founder, Matt Kalish, expressed excitement about introducing League of Legends to their industry-leading fantasy platform, bringing fans closer to the game. He emphasized the company’s strong commitment to the esports space and its desire to collaborate with top teams and players to support and contribute to its growth.
