Dr. Mundo debuts in LCS as TSM secures late-game win against Liquid in week 4 of the 2021 Summer Split

TSM Secures Victory in 2021 LCS Summer Split with Reworked Dr. Mundo

Today, in the fourth week of the 2021 LCS Summer Split, TSM emerged victorious against Team Liquid, securing their second win of the weekend. This marked the debut of the reworked Dr. Mundo in North America’s Summoner’s Rift.

Liquid’s Strong Performance Despite Roster Changes

Prior to the match, Team Liquid showcased strong performances, defeating Evil Geniuses and Counter Logic Gaming. Despite recent roster changes and the departure of their head coach Jatt, as well as Alphari and Santorin, Liquid displayed newfound cohesiveness and confidence.

Impressive Run for TSM

TSM, on the other hand, has been one of the top teams in the league. They have won four out of their last five games in the past two weeks, including a convincing victory over Cloud9 last weekend. The team has rediscovered their strengths from the latter half of the 2021 Spring Split, particularly their ability to secure leads in the mid-to-late game and their impressive teamfighting.

TSM’s Composition Prevails

In the match, TSM strategized with Dr. Mundo in the top lane, along with strong picks such as Xin Zhao, Ezreal, and PowerOfEvil’s Azir. Despite Liquid’s initial success in the bottom lane, TSM’s composition allowed them to scale and unleash their power spikes, making it difficult for Liquid to snowball their lead further.

On the other hand, TSM’s long-ranged composition, featuring Ezreal’s poke, Azir’s soldiers, and Dr. Mundo’s endless cleavers, countered Liquid’s engage options. Huni’s Warmog’s Armor also made Dr. Mundo an effective damage sponge, enabling the rest of TSM to whittle down their opponents and secure teamfight victories.

With this win, TSM solidifies their position as the second-best team in the regular season standings, just behind 100 Thieves.

Despite the loss, Team Liquid showcased a commendable performance with two substitute players in the top lane, considering the recent roster changes and new head coach. Their 2-1 record this weekend should boost the team’s confidence as they continue in the 2021 LCS Summer Split next week.
