Doublelift: ‘We’re Being Underrated’

Counter Logic Gaming Enters 2015 League of Legends Season With New Confidence

Counter Logic Gaming (CLG) started the 2015 League of Legends season in an unfamiliar position. According to team member Peter “DoubleLift” Peng, they may finally be underestimated. After winning their opening match against Team 8, DoubleLift expressed his confidence in the team’s potential for a renaissance.

Changes in the Lineup

With the addition of top laner Darshan “ZionSpartan” Upadhyaya, CLG now has a playmaking weapon they have never experienced before. DoubleLift believes that Upadhyaya’s ability to make plays on his own ushers in a new era for the team. They are becoming more proactive in determining their own fate.

Less Pressure and More Teamwork

Upadhyaya’s presence also helps to take the pressure off superstar player DoubleLift. With multiple talented players on the team, DoubleLift mentions that everyone is now a threat and they are no longer playing scared. With a full roster, CLG performs exceptionally well in the mid to late game.

Scarra’s Influence

The team is also benefitting from the guidance of their coach, William “Scarra” Li. Li helps with strategy, interpersonal relationships, and has a good understanding of what it takes to be successful as a team. Scarra’s experience as a former player who faced both success and struggles makes him relatable to the team’s situation.

CLG’s Potential

Despite previous disappointments, such as their disappointing summer season and almost being relegated, DoubleLift believes that people are underestimating how good CLG is right now. Although they have been ranked below teams like Gravity, DoubleLift predicts that they will place in the top two by the end of the split.

Counter Logic Gaming’s roster choices, which include picking up American players instead of superstar Koreans, have led to some skepticism. However, DoubleLift is not afraid of playing against Chae “Piglet” Gwang-jin and believes that Piglet is not significantly better than other AD carries. He also mentions that there may be difficulties coaching Piglet due to language barriers and a difference in experience.

In the end, DoubleLift and his teammate Aphromoo have the confidence and skills to face any challenge, including Piglet’s mechanical prowess. Counter Logic Gaming is no longer playing scared and has a strong lineup to prove their potential in the 2015 League of Legends season.
