Doinb Reveals Reasons for Stepping Down and Taking a Break from Competitive League of Legends

Doinb Takes Temporary Break from Professional Play

Former world champion and mid laner, Kim “Doinb” Tae-sang, has announced that he will be taking a temporary break from professional play at the start of the 2023 LPL season. LNG Esports, his former team, has recently parted ways with him, making him a free agent.

Doinb made the decision to rest and gain confidence after feeling a loss of confidence in his gameplay. He expressed his love for playing on stage and competing, clarifying that he is not retiring, but rather taking a break to re-adjust. “My playstyle is different from others, and it’s quite a particular one, so in this period I will keep playing League and change my mindset a bit, and mess around less in-game. I want to get back to the form I had back in 2019 and 2020 and get rid of all those tank items,” he stated.

Doinb’s Plans for 2023

During his stream, Doinb mentioned his plans for 2023. He intends to frequently visit the LNG facility to watch their games and scrims, in hopes of making an early return. Despite his presence at the games, he admitted to losing confidence and expressed his dissatisfaction with his performance in the past two years.

A Break from the Spotlight

Known for his unorthodox champion picks, such as Kled, Doinb became a world champion in 2019 by playing Nautilus against G2 Esports. However, his recent performance with LNG has been disappointing, failing to qualify for Worlds. “There are other teams contacting me other than LNG. For me, I need to join a team that can win Championships, I can’t join a team that is not going to perform,” he commented.

The transfer window has closed, and LNG must now search for a new star mid laner for their team. It is certain that Doinb will not be returning to the Summoners Rift with them.
