Diverse Group of Investors Acquires H2K Gaming

H2K Gaming Acquired by Consortium of Investors

European esports organization H2K Gaming has been purchased by a group of investors from diverse backgrounds, including a former senior partner at a law firm, a hedge fund manager, and an Australian professor of business.

H2K Gaming, known for its expertise in Call of Duty, has recently focused on League of Legends and now boasts one of the top teams in Europe. However, the organization returned to Call of Duty in January and signed a team for the Call of Duty World League.

New Leadership and Investors

H2K Gaming was bought by several investors in December of last year, but it is unknown when the organization was put up for sale or the reasons behind it. Susan Tully, a veteran of the entertainment industry, will become the new CEO of H2K Gaming. Richard Wells, the former CEO and owner of H2K, will now serve as Chief Gaming Operator, focusing on managing the teams and players.

Alongside Susan Tully and Richard Wells, the other investors include Richard Lippe, a former founding senior partner at a law firm in New York; David Lippe, a partner in a company managing multiple hedge funds; Shayne Gary, a professor of strategy and entrepreneurship; and Mitchell Blatt, the former president of Coinmach Corporation and CEO of Halcyon Jets.

Vision for the Future

The consortium of investors released a statement expressing their vision for H2K Gaming. They aim to become the world’s best esports franchise, both on and off the gaming platform. Their goal is to support charities, provide competitive salaries, and enhance living standards for young talent.

Investments in Esports

This is not the first instance of investors getting involved in the esports industry on a large scale. Last year, the Immortals, a League Championship Series team, were purchased by a group that included members of the American rock band Linkin Park. NRG eSports also received funding from former professional basketball player Shaquille O’Neal, as well as professional baseball players Alex Rodriguez and Jimmy Rollins.

Expansion and Opportunities

With the recent increase in prize money across various esports titles, H2K Gaming’s acquisition has come at an opportune time. The new owners have expressed their desire to provide the best experience for fans and ensure long-term profitability for the organization.
