DisguisedToast’s League of Legends Team Looks to Expand and Join LCS
DisguisedToast, the popular content creator turned team owner, is celebrating their victory in the 2023 Summer NA Challengers League. With this win, they are entering the new year with high hopes and considering expanding into other games and leagues.
In an interview with Travis Gafford, DisguisedToast expressed their plans for the future of the team. They are eager to continue their journey in 2024 and are actively searching for new sponsors to support their operations.
DisguisedToast also revealed their interest in joining the LCS, especially with TSM’s departure from the league and the potential opportunities arising from other teams selling their slots. However, they are aware that joining the LCS would require a significant investment.
Although DisguisedToast initially aimed to break even in esports within two years, they acknowledged that joining the LCS may disrupt this plan. They humorously remarked that joining the LCS might actually result in more financial losses than gains: “The more you win and the more successful you are, you actually lose more money in esports. It’s better to just lose.”
Since establishing their esports team, DisguisedToast has been transparent about the financial challenges they face. They have invested a substantial amount, with a budget of $1 million for their esports endeavors until 2022.
They emphasized the various expenses involved in running a profitable team, such as food, accommodation, and travel, which are not covered by Riot Games. Despite these challenges, DisguisedToast remains committed to building their legacy in esports. They are considering participation in other Riot products like Teamfight Tactics and Project L, as well as exploring opportunities in non-Riot titles such as CS2, Apex Legends, and Rainbow Six: Siege.
Looking ahead, DisguisedToast has many dreams for the future of their team. However, they understand the importance of making smart and sustainable decisions to ensure long-term success. Rushing into hasty decisions is the last thing they want to do.
