Dhokla Overcomes Near Retirement to Fuel CLG Resurgence and Silence Doubters

Dhokla’s Journey: From Retirement Plans to LCS Resurgence

Counter Logic Gaming star, Niship “Dhokla” Doshi, had plans to retire from League of Legends by 2023 if he continued to play in the LCS Academy. However, halfway through this year, Dhokla made a comeback and is now playing a significant role in CLG’s resurgence.

A Long Road to Redemption

Dhokla’s comeback journey began in 2019 with OpTic Gaming. After facing several setbacks, including finishing sixth and seventh in two splits, he was ruled out as an LCS player. However, Dhokla used this failure as motivation to improve and prove his worth.

Setting a Final Date

Inspired by his desire to prove doubters wrong, Dhokla set a ‘final date’ for himself. He aimed to make a comeback in the premier League competition by 2023 or retire from the game. Playing in the Academy was no longer fulfilling for him.

From Academy to the LCS

Due to his determination, Dhokla caught the attention of the right people, and in June 2022, he was promoted to CLG’s starting side. Alongside other talented pickups, CLG experienced a resurgence and achieved a shock fourth-place finish in Summer, securing a spot in the LCS Championship.

A New Goal: Stadium Games

Following his successful return to the LCS, Dhokla’s new goal is to play on-stage in a stadium and prove himself in front of a large audience. He views this as the biggest motivator and is thankful for the support he has received.

“Thank you everyone for supporting. We’re looking forward to doing our best,” Dhokla expressed.
