DFM Victorious Once Again at Worlds 2022 with Unconventional Champions: Emphasizing Flexibility over Metagame

DetonatioN FocusMe on Track for Second Consecutive Worlds Group Stage Run

DetonatioN FocusMe (DFM), the LJL team, secured their second win in the League of Legends World Championship play-ins stage. They defeated Beyond Gaming from the PCS region. DFM made history last year as the first LJL team to reach the group stage. If they continue playing like they did today, they have a good chance of performing well against the world’s best teams.

The Power of Comfort Picks

This year’s League of Legends meta has limited team compositions, forcing teams to stick to specific picks. However, DFM decided to bring their comfort picks to the Worlds stage. They chose champions that their players are familiar with, even if they aren’t the strongest in their roles. DFM’s top laner, Evi, played Lillia, and their mid laner, Yaharong, played Vex. This strategy helped DFM secure the win against Beyond Gaming.

Amumu Finds More Friends

Amumu has been a popular pick among support players in the play-ins stage. Yutapon, DFM’s ADC, paired up with Harp’s Amumu and played as Kai’Sa. Yutapon benefited from the gold funneled through Harp’s engages and was able to deal significant damage to the enemy team. With this strategy, DFM achieved their second win, and it’s likely that Amumu will continue to be a valuable pick throughout the tournament.

DFM will face Evil Geniuses from the LCS, while Beyond Gaming will go up against Fnatic from the LEC in their next matches.
