Despite Riot’s efforts to update her, a certain LoL champion possesses more skins than voice lines

Miss Fortune: The Champion with More Skins than Voice Lines

League of Legends has its fair share of champions with a multitude of skins. However, one champion stands out from the rest—Miss Fortune. With her 17th skin, Battle Bunny Miss Fortune, released in March 2022, she now has more skins than default voice lines. This revelation sparked a debate within the community.

While champions like Lux, Ezreal, Akali, and Ahri have flooded the store with unique skins, Miss Fortune falls short when it comes to voice lines. Despite her extensive wardrobe, each skin does not offer the same level of depth in terms of voice lines as the base champion does.

A Reddit thread from October 13 brought attention to this interesting statistic. It was pointed out that Miss Fortune has a voice line referring to the player as “Summoner,” a term that harkens back to the early days of League of Legends when breaking the fourth wall was common.

Since her release, Miss Fortune has undergone significant character development. She has transformed from a flirty and fun woman with a cool hat to Captain Fortune, the vengeful Bounty Hunter who took down Gangplank during the 2015 Burning Tides event.

Despite her evolution, some players have expressed dissatisfaction with Miss Fortune’s voice lines. One commenter described her voice in the game as “sounding like a stripper roleplaying a pirate for a bachelor party,” while praising her portrayal in Ruined King: A League of Legends Story as cool and believable.

Another Reddit user finds it strange that Riot Games seems to neglect the pirate persona of Miss Fortune despite her popularity. According to the stats site U.GG, she is a top 10 ADC pick with a 51.50 percent win rate. However, some argue that her current persona is what makes her appealing to players.

While other champions have received updated voiceovers along with the release of high-priced skins, Miss Fortune’s voice lines have remained outdated. Riot Games addressed this issue back in October 2018, mentioning plans to record new lines for her. However, these plans were ultimately abandoned due to divisive feedback.

It has been five years since then, and Miss Fortune still awaits a new voiceover. With the number of skins she has amassed, it is only fitting that she receives an updated voice lines. Hopefully, Riot Games has some ideas in mind for the future of Miss Fortune in games like Ruined King and Legends of Runeterra.
