Deft Shows No Intention of Retiring from Professional League Anytime Soon, Despite Last Performance at Worlds 2022

Deft Opens Up About His Journey to Becoming a League of Legends World Champion

Deft, the veteran ADC player for DRX and the current world champion of League of Legends, recently shared his career story and how winning the World Championship has impacted him in an article on The Players’ Tribune. He emphasized that while he has fulfilled his hunger for competition to some extent, retirement is not on the horizon for him.

Prior to this year’s Worlds, Deft had only made it past the quarterfinals of the tournament once in his career, and this struggle became a defining part of his identity. He admits that he lost himself in the process, losing touch with the kid who originally fell in love with League of Legends and its emotions and dreams.

Despite doubts from fans and other players, DRX achieved an incredible journey at this year’s World Championship, becoming the first team in esport history to win the tournament starting from the play-in stage. While Deft faced ups and downs along the way, he attributes his victory to the support of those who believed in him and his teammates and family who always had faith in his abilities.

Deft concluded his piece by expressing his intention to continue competing, stating that he wants to make more happy memories with his teammates and fans. Although he knows he will eventually retire with no regrets, that day has not yet arrived.
