Deft dominates his former Worlds-winning team in Dplus KIA debut

Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu shines in Dplus KIA’s victory against DRX

In the 2023 LCK Spring Split, Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu showcased his skills as he led Dplus KIA to a 2-0 win over his former team. The opening match of the split saw Dplus KIA triumph over DRX, with Deft playing a pivotal role in their success.

In the first game, Deft’s performance on Lucian was nearly flawless, finishing with a KDA of 9/0/9. However, he faced some setbacks in the second game, ending with a KDA of 7/2/4 after suffering two deaths. Nonetheless, his contributions greatly contributed to Dplus KIA’s victory.

Before the season began, there were doubts surrounding Dplus KIA’s new roster. With the addition of Deft and Canna, along with established Korean stars Canyon and ShowMaker, many questioned whether this team could work together effectively. While it’s still early to make a final judgment, today’s series against DRX shows promising signs for Dplus KIA’s future.

In contrast, DRX, despite winning Worlds last year, only retained one player from their championship roster, Cho “BeryL” Geon-hee. The team’s lineup appears weaker compared to their previous iteration, and their performance in today’s series suggests they have a long way to go before contending for the championship title.
