Why was Season 13 Extended?
In one of their Dev Blogs, Riot explained their reasoning behind the big changes to ranked play in 2023. One change they made was splitting the competitive season in two.
To accommodate this decision, Riot extended season 13 to include November and December. The goal is to make season 14 feel more complete as well.
What Happens at the End of League Seasons?
At the end of each competitive season, every League of Legends player who participated in ranked queues is rewarded with various skins and cosmetics. This includes loading screen borders that last for the next season and other reminders of your achieved rank. Players who reach Gold or higher also receive Victorious skins. Seasonal rewards are based on the highest rank you achieved throughout the season, so don’t be afraid to learn from your mistakes and improve your climb.
Lastly, your rank will reset at the end of every season.
