Curse Gaming unites with Team Liquid in game-changing merger

Curse Gaming Merges with Team Liquid

Curse Gaming, a legendary StarCraft team, has merged with Team Liquid, marking a new chapter for both organizations. This merger will have a major impact on the League Championship Series as Curse Gaming, known for constantly finishing in fourth place, will now compete under the Team Liquid brand.

The New Liquid Team

The newly formed Liquid League of Legends team, which has placed fourth in the last two seasons of the LCS, is now set to break that trend with their recent addition of Chae “Piglet” Gwang-jin. Piglet will join the team’s powerful bottom lane, alongside top support player Alex “Xpecial” Chu. The team is completed by Christian “IWillDominate” Rivera and Diego “Quas” Ruiz in the jungle and top lane respectively, and rising Korean mid laner Kim “Fenix” Jae-hun in the mid lane.

Expanding the Roster

In addition to the new League of Legends team, Team Liquid has also acquired Curse Gaming’s other players and squads. This includes Smash stars Juan “Hungrybox” Manuel Debiedma and Kashan “Chillin” Khan, Street Fighter player Du “NuckleDu” Dang, and the challenger League of Legends team.

A Joint Ownership

The merger has resulted in Curse Gaming owner Steve “LiQuID122” Arhancet becoming a co-owner in the new Team Liquid, alongside Victor “Nazgul” Goossens.

Team Liquid, primarily a StarCraft community and team, has grown a large following in Dota 2 and Hearthstone due to their in-depth written esports content. Curse Gaming, on the other hand, has successfully established its brand in League of Legends and has a solid video production team.

Victor Goossens expressed his excitement about the merger, stating that both organizations complement each other and together, they can become a stronger and more complete organization. He believes that this merger will help Team Liquid in signing new talent, especially when it comes to building a new Liquid Dota team.

The organization was well-prepared for the merger, as a new Liquid League of Legends website was launched. The website features content from various writers, including Fionn, former Team Liquid StarCraft 2 writer, who was recently suspended from a LoL Esports gig due to comments made on Twitter.
