Cowsep’s Twitch account banned and partner status revoked following DMCA violation

Cowsep, Popular League of Legends Streamer, Banned on Twitch

Joseph “Cowsep” Hursey, a well-known League of Legends streamer, has been banned on Twitch and is no longer partnered, according to the StreamerBans Twitter account.

Initially, some fans speculated that the ban was related to Cowsep’s move to Facebook Gaming. However, Cowsep clarified on Twitter that the ban was actually DMCA-related. He claims to have deleted all of his clips and VODs that contained unlicensed music, yet he still received the ban.

Cowsep Tweet: “Just got banned on Twitch for DMCA even though I deleted all my clips and VODs lol. WHY AM I GETTING BANNED ON EVERYTHING ” (November 12, 2020)

About Cowsep

Cowsep is a popular one-trick Yi main in League of Legends. He is known for popularizing various meta builds and unique summoner spell combinations. On the Korean server, he has mastered Yi’s Alpha Strike ability.

Additionally, Cowsep is known for his catchphrase “I was in Alpha,” which he says whenever he takes damage that he believes should not have hit him while using Yi’s Q ability.

The Challenges of Streaming on the Korean Server

In a previous interview with Inven Global, Cowsep discussed the challenges of streaming on the Korean server. He explained that due to the toxic nature of the server, he had to limit his streaming hours to maintain a positive attitude towards the game. The toxic behavior of players on the Korean server, including intentional feeding and insulting teammates for minor mistakes, can be overwhelming.
