Infinity Edge Receives a Partial Return of Its Old Passive Ability
League of Legends’ most popular item for marksmen, the Infinity Edge, underwent a rework in Patch 8.11. The update introduced a new passive ability, increased Attack Damage (AD), and removed flat critical chance.
In the latest PBE update, it appears that the old passive ability may be making a comeback, albeit not in its entirety.
If the testing phase proves successful, critical strikes made after purchasing the Infinity Edge will now boost critical damage by 50 percent. However, it should be noted that this bonus will only apply when attacking minions and monsters.
Opinions on this change may vary, depending on your perspective. If you have been dissatisfied with the new Infinity Edge due to the absence of its old passive ability, you may not find this alteration satisfying either. It could feel like a tease, as it will not enhance your combat capabilities, only your farming potential.
On the other hand, if you are one of the players who either did not mind the new passive ability or actually enjoyed it, you may appreciate this change. The new half-passive will be added without altering or removing any components of the current item. It will still include the true damage conversion and doubling of critical chance.
This alteration will indeed be beneficial for farming and clearing waves, whether you are a marksman in the laning phase or playing as Kindred in the jungle. This alone should be considered a positive change.
The revised Infinity Edge is expected to be implemented in Patch 8.15 next week.
