Cloud9’s LCS lineup to welcome back ADC Zven for this weekend

Cloud9 Reinstates Zven as Starting ADC for 2021 LCS Summer Split

Cloud9 has brought back AD carry Zven to its starting lineup for the ongoing 2021 LCS Summer Split. The announcement was made today through a tweet that featured a photo of Zven with the caption “He’s back.”

For the first three weeks of the split, Cloud9 had been fielding first-year LCS pro K1ng as their ADC while Zven played in the Academy league to hone his skills. During his time in the Academy league, Zven showcased remarkable performance. He boasts 64 kills and a 10.5 KDA across 12 games, making him the top performer in the North American Academy scene, as reported by Oracle’s Elixir, a League stats site.

Meanwhile, in the LCS, Cloud9 had a lackluster record of 4-5 in their first nine games this summer. They are currently on a three-game losing streak after going winless against Evil Geniuses, Immortals, and TSM last weekend. K1ng played adequately during these games, achieving a 5.8 KDA, which ranked him seventh among all LCS players.

Zven’s Return Follows a Wave of Benchings in the LCS

Zven’s benching on May 29 sparked a series of benchings among professional League players. Prominent players like Alphari, Dardoch, and Soligo were all replaced by Academy-level talent. Now, four weeks later, Zven becomes the first of those players to make a comeback on the LCS stage.

Zven hasn’t played with Cloud9’s main roster since the Mid-Season Invitational held last month. The team will kick off their upcoming LCS games with a match against Golden Guardians on Friday, June 25.
