Cloud9 Signs Talented Australian Player Destiny for LCS Academy Support Position – Sources

Cloud9 Adds Mitchell “Destiny” Shaw to LCS Academy Roster

Cloud9 has made a significant change to its LCS Academy roster for the Summer split. According to sources, the experienced Australian support player Mitchell “Destiny” Shaw will replace Jonah “Isles” Rosario and Kim “Winsome” Dong-keon. This lineup change in the League of Legends team is accompanied by Jesper “Zven” Svenningsen role swapping to support and re-joining the C9 starting team. Destiny will step in as a temporary replacement for Zven during this transition.

Reunion with K1ng and Mammoth Success

Destiny’s move from Immortals to C9 Academy will bring him back together with his former Oceanic partner Calvin “k1ng” Truong. The duo previously played together on Dire Wolves in 2017, where they won back-to-back domestic titles. They reunited again in 2019 on Mammoth, winning Split 2 playoffs and representing Oceania at Worlds. It is worth noting that Cloud9’s top laner Ibrahim “Fudge” Allami was also part of the Mammoth lineup.

Success in Europe’s LEC and Immortals

Following their success in Mammoth, Destiny joined Origen in Europe’s top League of Legends competition, the LEC. There, Destiny played alongside other standout LoL stars like Barney “Alphari” Morris, Elias “Upset” Lipp, and Andrei “Xerxe” Dragomir. Destiny eventually signed with Immortals in the LCS in 2020, playing 124 games across three seasons and achieving a top-six finish in the 2021 Championship. He will now be replaced by Lee “IgNar” Dong-geun.

Other Changes in C9 Academy

In addition to Destiny joining the roster, C9 Academy has added Jay “Sheiden” as its new jungler. Sebastian “Malice” Edholm, originally part of the Academy squad, has moved into a coaching role. Darshan “Darshan” Upadhyaya and Jouhan “Copy” Pathmanathan are expected to remain with the team.

Achievements and Future for C9 Academy

Cloud9’s Academy roster finished in second place in the NA Academy 2022 Spring split with a 7–8–3 record, trailing behind Counter Logic Gaming’s reserve side. Although they had a disappointing loss to Dignitas at Proving Grounds, affecting their quest for Academy glory, they continued in the lower bracket until being eliminated by 100 Thieves.

Isles and Winsome, who have had stints in both the Academy side and LCS lineup, are currently looking for new opportunities. They are signed to Cloud9 until 2024.
