A Devoted Fan Honors Cloud9’s Success with a Tattoo
When major tournaments happen in the world of sports, fans often make extravagant promises to show their dedication to their favorite teams. This trend extends to the world of esports as well, and one particular Cloud9 fan went above and beyond to keep their promise.
On October 11th of last year, during the highly anticipated 2021 League of Legends World Championship, a devoted C9 fan known as Fufuuyen on Twitter pledged to get a tattoo of the team’s logo on their arm if the squad made it to the knockout stage of the tournament.
This pledge has now been fulfilled. The tattoo, a simple black-ink design, proudly displays the bold logo of the North American organization on the fan’s forearm.
Challenging Journey to the Knockout Stage
During Worlds 2021, C9 found themselves in Group A, which was widely regarded as the “Group of Death.” It consisted of the top seed from the LCK, DWG KIA, the second-best team from LPL, FunPlus Phoenix, and the third seed from Europe, Rogue.
After the first round of matches, things looked bleak for both C9 and Rogue. However, they managed to secure victories against FPX in the second round, leading to tiebreaker matches. In those tiebreakers, Rogue eliminated the Chinese representatives but fell short against Cloud9, who emerged victorious and advanced to the next stage of the tournament.
