Cloud9 dominates Golden Guardians in 2022 LCS Spring Split opener featuring unexpected Ivern mid pick

Cloud9 Starts 2022 LCS Spring Split Strong with Ivern Mid Pick

Cloud9 made a surprising move in their first game of the 2022 LCS Spring Split by defeating Golden Guardians with an Ivern mid pick. The match showcased C9’s impressive macro play and mechanical skill, securing them a dominant 26-minute victory.

Visa Issues Lead to Unique Lineups

Due to visa issues, both Cloud9 and Golden Guardians had to field alternative starting lineups for the 2022 Lock In tournament. C9 utilized an Academy-LCS hybrid team, while Golden Guardians found themselves in a similar position. These circumstances set the stage for an intriguing showdown between the two teams.

Game Highlights

Golden Guardians initially took the lead against C9, holding a 3,000 gold advantage at the 13-minute mark. Jungler Pridestalker’s strong early game performance propelled their team forward. However, C9 quickly turned the tide with Ivern’s shielding, making their carries virtually unkillable. They proceeded to defeat Golden Guardians, preventing them from securing first turret gold.

Although Golden Guardians maintained a gold lead into the mid game, C9 maintained the tempo advantage. They successfully distracted Golden Guardians during a dragon take, allowing them to secure the objective while keeping their top laner, Summit, alive.

C9’s superior maneuvering led to another pivotal moment when they engaged Baron and eliminated three members of the Golden Guardians, ultimately sealing their victory in just 26 minutes.

Star Performances

C9’s jungler, Blaber, stood out with his exceptional play on Gwen, leading the team in mid to late-game teamfights. Furthermore, Fudge’s surprise pick of Ivern proved to be effective in the late game, providing support for Berserker, C9’s AD carry, to fight without worry.

Looking Ahead

After this impressive win, Cloud9 aims to continue their success against Evil Geniuses tomorrow, Feb. 6. On the other hand, Golden Guardians will strive for a victory in week one against FlyQuest.
