CLG League of Legends streamer Rush prepares for mandatory military service

CLG Streamer Rush to Begin Mandatory Military Service After Season 10

CLG League of Legends streamer Lee “Rush” Yoon-jae recently announced on a Twitch stream that he will be starting his mandatory military service in Korea after the end of season 10.

“This is actually my last month of playing League of Legends—no joke,” Rush said. “I’m going to be probably playing for a week to let people know that I’m leaving… Then I’ll quit streaming and League of Legends both to serve in the military, I guess.”

Since Rush is 27 years old, he is required to enlist in the Korean military service. Military service is compulsory for all male citizens between the ages of 18 and 28. While the service can be delayed for various reasons, men must enlist before they turn 28. The length of service depends on the branch of the military and ranges from 18 to 21 months.

Rush began his professional League career in 2014 with the emerging rookie team LMQ. After a year with LMQ, he joined Cloud9 and stayed with them until July 2016. He then transitioned to streaming and gained a large following of viewers who enjoyed watching his solo queue games.

In 2018, Rush announced that he would be joining KT Rolster in LCK. Although he spent most of his time on the bench, KT Rolster emerged as one of the top teams that year and became contenders for the World Championship.

Rush returned to NA for the 2019 season, joining Echo Fox, but after one season he left and became a streamer for CLG. Many viewers continue to tune in to watch the former rank-one KR solo queue player climb the Challenger ladder.
