CLG Announces New 2022 LCS Academy Roster as Rebuilding Efforts Persist

CLG Signs Rookie Talent for its Academy Roster in LCS

CLG is revamping its League of Legends division for the upcoming year by recruiting a group of rookie players for its Academy roster.

Complete Overhaul for CLG

During the offseason, CLG made a clean slate by releasing all its players from both the LCS and Academy teams. The organization also made changes by parting ways with former general manager Tafokints and assembling a new coaching staff for the team.

Introducing the CLG Academy 2022 Roster

A new roster has been announced for CLG Academy in a recent tweet:

The Academy squad for CLG now includes former Immortals and OpTic Gaming top laner Dhokla, jungler RoseThorn, mid laner Triple, and the return of former 100 Thieves Academy bottom lane Prismal and Breezyyy. The team aims to build a new developmental pathway and break free from their recent struggles over the past two years.

CLG’s Struggles in the League

Despite having experienced players like PowerOfEvil, Crown, WildTurtle, Pobelter, Broxah, and Smoothie, CLG has been consistently placing near the bottom of the league for the past four seasons. Unfortunately, the team couldn’t find success on Summoner’s Rift, leading to a decline in team morale and more losses in 2021.

A Fresh Start

Next year, Jonathan McDaniels, the new GM of CLG, will lead the team behind-the-scenes alongside new coaches Thinkcard and Croissant. The LCS roster for CLG will consist of top laner Jenkins, jungler Contractz, mid laner Palafox, AD carry Luger, and support Poome.
