Cleveland Cavaliers Join LCS with Nadeshot as Head

The Cleveland Cavaliers have been accepted into the new franchise model and will have an LCS team in 2018, according to ESPN. The team will be led by Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag.

NBA Continues to Invest in Esports

The NBA has been actively investing in the esports industry. NBA legend Rick Fox, the Philadelphia 76s, and others have purchased or heavily invested in professional League of Legends teams. It has been reported that the Golden State Warriors have also joined the LCS.

Nadeshot Leads the Cavs

Nadeshot, a influential figure in Call of Duty esports, will be at the helm of the Cavs’ esports team.

Eight Confirmed Franchised NA LCS Teams

Alongside the Cleveland Cavaliers, there are seven other confirmed teams for the franchised model of the NA LCS. These teams include Cloud9, CLG, TSM, Echo Fox, Team Liquid, OpTic Gaming, and a team owned by the Lacob family.

Immortals, Phoenix1, Team Dignitas, and Team Envy have reportedly lost their spots in the league. The fate of FlyQuest has not been disclosed yet.

With two spots remaining in the league, four EU LCS teams – G2 Esports, Fnatic, Splyce, and Misfits – are among those bidding for the spots.
