Chovy achieves historic record in LoL esports after Gen.G’s Worlds playoffs qualification

Chovy Sets Record at League of Legends World Championship

Gen.G has emerged as the favorite at the 2023 League of Legends World Championship, and much of the attention is on their standout player, Chovy.

Chovy, at just 22 years old, has made history by becoming the first player to reach the playoffs in five consecutive Worlds tournaments. He surpassed other renowned Worlds attendees like T1’s Faker, JD Gaming’s Ruler, and LNG Esports’ Scout.

Former Cloud9 AD carry Sneaky had a chance to achieve a similar feat if he had made it to the playoffs in 2015. However, Chovy’s consistent performances have set a new record and solidified his place in League of Legends history.

Since his debut with Griffin in 2018, Chovy has been a dominant force in the mid lane. Known for his exceptional farming and mechanical skills, he is widely regarded as one of the top three mid laners in the world and is considered the strongest early-game mid.

Chovy’s Impressive Performance at Worlds 2023

At Worlds 2023, Chovy has achieved the third-highest number of kills among mid laners in the main event, despite playing fewer games than the players at the top of the leaderboard, as reported by Oracle’s Elixir. He boasts an impressive KDA of 14.3, contributes to 73.1 percent of his team’s kills, and maintains the highest average CS per minute.

If Gen.G wants to start the playoffs on a high note, Chovy will need to maintain his dominant presence in the mid lane. Their first challenge will be against Bilibili Gaming on Friday, Nov. 3.
