Chinese video satire mocks SKT

Chinese League of Legends Struggles at International Tournaments

Esports fans are excited about Worlds being held in China, but it’s been a while since an LPL team has been a strong contender at an international tournament. In fact, Taiwan’s Flash Wolves have had recent success despite representing a country with less than two percent of China’s population.

Chinese esports media have been criticizing other regions, like TSM and G2, despite the struggles of Chinese League of Legends teams themselves. The latest video from Tuwan takes aim at SKT, the team that has won two straight World Championships and is favored to win a third. You can watch the video here.

Roasting SKT’s Players

The video starts by poking fun at top laners Heo “Huni” Seung-hoon and Park “Untara” Ui-jin, who won’t be on the active Worlds roster. It highlights players’ mistakes and weaknesses, like Huni’s tendency to overcommit and Untara’s failure to dodge skillshots. The video also takes aim at Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, portraying him making mistakes and failing flashes. You can watch Faker play in an angry state here.

It’s interesting that the video doesn’t target coach Kim “kkOma” Jung-gyung, who likes to keep his thoughts to himself. But one can tell that kkOma has a love for vengeance, as seen in his coaching style and drafts against teams he feels have disrespected him.

Plenty of Satire Material in China

While Tuwan has been roasting other regions, there’s plenty of material to work with in the Chinese domestic teams. EDG, who won MSI over two years ago, has been a huge disappointment. Royal, on the other hand, had bracket luck in two straight Worlds Finals appearances but hasn’t achieved much since. It’s embarrassing that even with the most League players, China hasn’t won Worlds yet. There are plenty of failures, like Uzi’s struggles in finals and Clearlove’s tendency to choke at Worlds, to mock. Watch a previous roast of LPL teams here.

Let’s hope for more LPL roast videos in the future!
