China’s First Worlds Title: Invictus Gaming Defeats Fnatic

Invictus Gaming Wins 2018 League of Legends World Championship

Invictus Gaming (IG) has emerged as the champions of the 2018 League of Legends World Championship. In a decisive 3-0 victory over Europe’s Fnatic, IG became the first non-Korean team to win the title in six years.

Both Invictus Gaming and Fnatic showcased compelling storylines throughout the tournament. Fnatic had the opportunity to win Worlds for the first time since season one and establish the strength of the western teams. On the other hand, Invictus Gaming aimed to secure China’s first World Championship win, a goal they successfully accomplished.

Entering the finals, Fnatic and IG had proven themselves by defeating some of the strongest teams in the world. IG eliminated tournament favorites KT Rolster in the quarterfinals, while Fnatic outperformed IG in the group stage. The final series was seen as a wide open competition.

However, it was clear that IG had prepared better. They completely dominated Fnatic in all three games, making it one of the most one-sided series in the entire tournament. Despite Fnatic not performing at their best and experiencing some setbacks, IG undeniably displayed outstanding gameplay. They solidified their position as one of the greatest teams in League of Legends history.

With the elimination of Royal Never Give Up (RNG) in the first knockout round, IG finally emerged from RNG’s shadow. They have not only secured the title of the best team in China but have also become the country’s leading contender on the international stage.

Thanks to Invictus Gaming, China has etched its name in the League of Legends World Championship history. With the conclusion of the 2018 competitive season, fans bid farewell to an eventful year in League of Legends.
