Chairman of NRG eSports expresses commitment to League of Legends and outlines strategic approach

NRG eSports Looks to Make a Comeback to the League Championship Series

NRG eSports, despite being eliminated from the North American League Championship Series last week, is determined to stay in the esports scene and make a return to the league.

The organization was founded in 2016 by Sacramento Kings co-owners Andrew Miller and Mark Mastrov, with investments from high-profile athletes. NRG entered the NA LCS after purchasing the spot of Team Coast in late 2015.

Former NRG members Lucas “Santorin” Tao Kilmer Larsen, Alan “KiWiKiD” Nguyen, and Lee “GBM” Chang-suk have announced that they have been released from their contracts with the organization. NRG has now released all of the members of its former roster.

While the exit from NA LCS may be disappointing, Miller has publicly acknowledged that NRG’s time in the League of Legends scene isn’t over yet. In a tweet, Miller expressed disappointment but also mentioned that he is working on a plan to stay involved in League of Legends.

In their debut season in Spring 2016, NRG had initial success but began to struggle by the fifth week of competition and ultimately crashed out in the first round of playoffs. Despite restructuring the roster before the Summer Split, NRG only won four out of 18 games and performed poorly in the relegation tournament.
