Can Team Liquid overcome the challenges at MSI 2019?

Team Liquid’s Journey to MSI: Breaking the NA Curse

Team Liquid, with world champion Jo “CoreJJ” Yong-in and Nicolaj Jensen from Cloud9, had one of North America’s strongest rosters. The 2019 LCS Spring Split began strong for Liquid, but ended with doubts.

However, Liquid fought hard to secure their spot in MSI. They faced tough competition, but managed to win three crucial games and secure their spot.

Domestic ups and downs

Liquid started the split dominantly, with only one loss in the first seven weeks. Fans had high hopes for a deep run in MSI. However, they suffered defeats towards the end of the split, causing doubt among fans.

Facing FlyQuest and Echo Fox, Liquid struggled and faced defeats due to poor plays and decision-making. However, they managed to regain their momentum and defeated TSM in the final game with a strong performance. This win brought hope back to Liquid’s fans.

Dealing with the unknown

Before reaching the main stage of MSI, Liquid will face strong wildcard teams in the play-in stage. Teams like Phong Vu Buffalo and 1907 Fenerbahce shouldn’t be underestimated. Liquid will need to adapt quickly to ensure their place in the group stage.

While Liquid is an experienced team, there’s always a fear of underestimating the competition. Any small mistake can cost them against international teams.

Breaking the curse

If Liquid secures their place in the group stage of MSI, they will need to overcome the “NA curse.” Only one NA team has reached the semifinals in the past four MSIs. However, this year, Liquid has no excuses. Their roster is one of the strongest in NA and they’ve worked through their weaknesses.

With no weak points on the map and players like Doublelift and Jensen in peak form, Liquid has the potential to break the curse. A successful performance at MSI will not only boost their confidence but also establish them as a formidable team before Worlds.
