‘Bwipo reflects on his initial doubts about playing alongside a former Fnatic teammate’

Bwipo Reveals Initial Doubts About Fnatic Teammate

Team Liquid top laner Bwipo recently opened up about his time with Fnatic during a livestream, discussing his thoughts on a teammate he initially had reservations about.

During the stream, Bwipo stated, “It was me and Hylissang, that’s what they built around in the end. That doesn’t mean I had a lot of influence on who I wanted to play with and who I didn’t.”

Bwipo clarified that he did not have much say in the team’s decision-making, especially regarding his preferred teammates.

ADC Position Choices

In the 2020 offseason, Fnatic focused on retaining Bwipo, Hylissang, and Selfmade, while adding Nisqy and Upset to the roster. Bwipo admitted that he initially had a negative impression of Upset, stating that he wouldn’t have chosen to play with him if he had the choice.

“What I thought of him was just that I didn’t think he was that great. And I turned out to be wrong, he’s a much better player than what I gave him credit for,” Bwipo explained during the stream.

Bwipo’s Interaction with Upset

Bwipo recalled his first conversations with Upset in December 2020, following Fnatic’s run to the quarterfinals at that year’s League of Legends World Championship. Upset joined the team as the new AD carry, replacing Rekkles.

Fnatic’s Performance and Bwipo’s Perspective

In 2021, Fnatic achieved playoff berths in both the LEC Spring and Summer Splits and secured a spot at Worlds as Europe’s second seed. During the latter half of the season, Bwipo transitioned to the jungle role, while Upset did not participate in Worlds due to personal reasons.

“He was better than I gave him credit for, certainly, but to give you an example, if I got to choose, I would not have played with him,” Bwipo admitted.

Unfortunately, Fnatic’s 2021 Worlds journey ended in the group stage, while Bwipo’s current team, Team Liquid, did not qualify for the event.
