Bwipo asserts that Reddit influences League roster decisions significantly

Bwipo Claims Reddit Has Strong Influence on Roster Decisions

In a recent Twitch stream, Team Liquid content creator Bwipo revealed that Reddit holds significant influence over professional League of Legends roster decisions, contrary to popular belief.

According to Bwipo, public opinion, particularly on Reddit, plays a major role in decision-making. He emphasized that many fans underestimate the extent of Reddit’s influence.

The comment was made during a Nov. 27 Twitch stream when Bwipo responded to a chat comment regarding Fnatic’s roster changes. While he didn’t directly discuss his former team’s decisions, he provided examples of how community perception affects player evaluations.

Bwipo explained that veteran players may have their opinions considered by organizations when it comes to players who have a negative image in the community. However, if the same veteran suggests multiple players with a bad reputation, they are often rejected purely based on their public perception and not their skill level.

Interestingly, Bwipo mentioned that there was a time when Fnatic was willing to let him have complete control over roster construction. However, due to some drama, they mutually agreed not to pursue this option.

One of the reasons why Bwipo believes he couldn’t secure a team this offseason is due to the shift in public opinion against him during the 2022 Summer Split. He admitted that his own performance fell short of his usual standards. He also cited the case of his former teammate Nemesis, who suffered similar consequences from negative public opinion on platforms like Reddit.

For now, Bwipo plans to take a break during the Spring Split and focus on training in hopes of joining a team for the 2023 LCS Summer Split.
