Bug: After using a Hextech Portal, Bard’s Meeps have the ability to block enemy hooks

League of Legends: Bard’s Meeps Can Block Hooks and Damage

Bard, a support champion in League of Legends, has a unique playstyle different from other supports. One of his key features is the ability to spawn Meeps, lesser spirits that grant him extra magic damage when consumed with each attack.

A recent discovery by a player revealed an unintended use for these Meeps, which is blocking hooks from characters like Thresh and Blitzcrank. In a video uploaded to Reddit, a Bard player successfully used a Meep to soak up a hook shot from an opposing Thresh.

In the video, the Thresh attempted to hook the Bard, but the Meep intercepted the hook and got pulled towards Thresh instead. This action saved Bard from being stunned and displaced by the enemy support. If the hook had landed, Bard would have been left vulnerable and in a bad position, but the accumulated Meeps came to his rescue.

This occurrence is likely a bug resulting from the coding of the new Hextech portals introduced when the Hextech Drake joined Summoner’s Rift. These portals allow players to quickly move across the map but also make champions untargetable while inside. However, it seems that while Meeps and other pets like Lulu’s Pix are normally untargetable, they become targetable when they go through the portals.

According to a Reddit bug hunter named Caenen_, there is a problem with the continuous targetability update for these pets. Instead of being updated continuously, their targetability status is just a boolean value (true/false). So when they go through a portal and their targetability status changes, it does not automatically update to make them untargetable again. This loophole allows the Meeps to protect Bard from attacks or damage.

Additionally, it has been discovered that Meeps can also block damage from turrets, as shown in a Twitch clip. Given the potential strength of this bug, it is likely that Riot Games, the developers of League of Legends, will release a fix for it soon. Similar issues with Lulu’s Pix were addressed in the previous patch, so players can expect the Meeps to return to their normal status in the near future.
