Riot Releases Hotfix to Address Champions’ Struggles in League of Legends
The recent durability update in League of Legends gave new tools to every champion, but some champions continue to struggle in their roles. To address this issue, Riot has released a mid-patch hotfix, Patch 12.10b.
Matt “Phroxzon” Leung-Harrison, the lead designer on game balance in League, announced the immediate release of Patch 12.10b as a hotfix. The hotfix focuses on buffing champions that were most impacted by the durability update in Patch 12.10. These champions have experienced a significant decrease in win rate, while other champions have seen an increase in win rate.
List of Buffed Champions:
- Kled
- Renekton
- Diana
- Vladimir
- Draven
- Yuumi
Both Kled and Renekton have struggled compared to top laners like Kayle, Camille, and Gwen, who have the damage to complement their newfound defenses. As a result, Kled and Renekton will receive cooldown decreases to some of their abilities. Renekton will also gain significant healing increases to his Q, which scales even more at later ranks.
The mid lane has seen an increase in the popularity of champions like Brand, Zilean, and Kayle. In contrast, Diana has been unable to take down opponents with a full combo. To improve her status as a mid laner and jungler, Diana will receive buffs to her W and E abilities. Vladimir will also receive further durability increases with more healing from his Q ability.
Draven is one of the biggest beneficiaries of this hotfix patch, with substantial buffs to his passive gold gain from champion kills and bonus damage on his Q ability. Yuumi also receives an increase in healing from her E ability, particularly at later ranks, and a decrease in mana cost for her E.
The changes implemented in this hotfix are now live in League of Legends and will likely be the only hotfix changes until the release of Patch 12.11 in two weeks. Phroxzon has mentioned that champions who are already “outside our bounds,” such as Ryze, will be addressed in the next major patch.
