Team Liquid Jungler Broxah Criticizes TSM’s Decision to Rotate Support Players
Team Liquid jungler Broxah expressed his disagreement with TSM’s recent announcement to rotate between support players Treatz and Biofrost. According to Broxah, the timing of the decision couldn’t have been worse.
Broxah stated that it’s difficult to determine whether the change was justified or not. He mentioned that while Biofrost could potentially improve the team, nobody can say for certain. The uncertainty surrounding the situation makes it a risky move for TSM.
TSM’s Support Player Dilemma
In the 2020 LCS Summer Split, TSM initially had Biofrost as their primary support player before making the switch to Treatz in week six. Treatz had a higher kill participation percentage, but Biofrost outperformed him in terms of warding numbers. TSM’s star AD carry, Doublelift, also shared in an interview that he hasn’t fully synergized with Treatz due to different play styles.
However, TSM’s decision to potentially change support players during the playoffs raises concerns. The team suffered a first-round loss against Golden Guardians and barely avoided elimination against Dignitas. Making such a switch mid-playoffs might impact the team’s performance and cohesion.
Broxah Criticizes TSM’s Approach
Broxah not only questioned the timing of TSM’s announcement but also criticized the organization’s treatment of its players on social media. In particular, he took offense to the last sentence of the announcement, which stated that TSM would play the “better player” on Sunday. Broxah argued that this approach disregards factors like fitness and suitability for the roster, while also disrespecting the overlooked player.
According to Broxah, TSM’s statement implied that one player is superior while the other is deemed inferior and disregarded. He believes this approach is unfair and disrespectful to the players involved.
Upcoming Challenges for TSM
TSM’s next match is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 23 at 3pm CT against the team that loses in the Team Liquid vs. Golden Guardians upper bracket semifinal. Whether Biofrost or Treatz assumes the support role, TSM will not only have to face their opponents but also deal with potential morale issues in their quest to qualify for Worlds 2020.
