Briar’s Reign of Chaos Persists in LoL Patch 13.22 Despite Significant Nerfs

Briar, the Restrained Hunger, Creating Chaos in League of Legends

Since joining the cast of League champions in September with Patch 13.18, Briar has caused quite a stir on Summoner’s Rift. Her unique playstyle and overwhelming presence in the jungle have garnered attention from players and Riot Games alike. Despite recent nerfs in Patch 13.22, Briar remains a force to be reckoned with.

As part of the latest patch, Briar received nerfs to her Q and R abilities, specifically targeting her lethality build. However, data from OP.GG, U.GG, and champion.gg show that her fighter-focused build with Stridebreaker continues to thrive, boasting a 53-percent win rate in high Elo.

A Unique Mechanic Sets Briar Apart

One of Briar’s standout traits is her ability to enter a “berserk” state simply by pressing W. This grants her increased attack speed and movement speed towards her target. Previously, this state was only accessible through Renata Glasc’s ultimate ability.

Combined with Briar’s passive, which provides significant life steal when she constantly attacks her opponents, this berserk state almost always guarantees a kill or forces someone to retreat. The only reliable way to counter this is with hard crowd control, although Briar has the ability to cleanse herself with her E ability, making it difficult to stop her bloodthirsty rampage.

Anticipating Patch 13.23

Riot is set to release a preview of Patch 13.23, scheduled to go live on Nov. 21. The upcoming changes remain unknown, but given Briar’s dominance, it is likely she will face further nerfs.
