Brazilian League player Mayumi files lawsuit against former team INTZ for alleged harassment and contractual violations

Brazilian League of Legends Player Mayumi Sues Former Team INTZ

Brazilian League of Legends player Júlia “Mayumi” Nakamura has filed a lawsuit against her former team, INTZ, for mistreatment and contract irregularities, according to Brazilian outlet START.

Mayumi Announces Departure from INTZ

Mayumi announced on May 25 that she had left INTZ without even competing in the Brazilian Championship. She stated that she is now a free agent and will focus on streaming and personal projects. INTZ, on the other hand, did not announce her departure.

Mistreatment Allegations and Lawsuit

In her lawsuit filed on May 26, Mayumi alleges mistreatment by the team. Her lawyer claims that her role was changed from competing to advertising in mid-February. She further states that she was excluded from team meetings, had no desk or computer at the gaming house, and did not receive any response when she voiced her concerns to the team’s staff.

Contract Irregularities and Monetary Compensation

The lawsuit also highlights contract irregularities, including a clause that would make Mayumi liable for a large fine if she terminated the contract unilaterally. The fine is reportedly equivalent to her entire salary earned while working for INTZ. Additionally, the contract’s duration of 28 months exceeds the two-year limit set by Brazil’s labor laws.

Mayumi and her lawyer are seeking the cancellation of the contract and monetary compensation for the months she worked without being properly registered by INTZ. They are also requesting severance pay and indemnity for moral harassment, if the contract is deemed valid.

A hearing has been scheduled for July 21. INTZ claims to have fulfilled all contractual obligations and intended to include Mayumi in matches in the second stage of the 2020 CBLoL, which began on June 6.

Mayumi will refrain from commenting on the situation until the legal proceedings have concluded.
