Bilibili Gaming surprises T1, and their impressive performance extends at MSI 2023

LPL Representatives Secure Third Consecutive Mid-Season Invitational Title for China

Both LPL representatives at the 2023 League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational have triumphed once again, guaranteeing that the trophy will remain in China for the third year in a row.

Bilibili Gaming defeated T1 in four games, earning their spot in the final series of the event. This sets up a rematch of the 2023 LPL Spring Finals against JD Gaming, as BLG aims to break their losing streak against the Chinese powerhouse.

Throughout the tournament, BLG’s second seed has consistently improved their gameplay, showcasing exceptional teamfighting skills and strategic decision-making. While T1 has been one of the strongest teams in the competition, they couldn’t match BLG’s dominance in the later stages of the games, much like many other teams before them.

Once again, BLG’s AD carry, Zhao “Elk” Jia-Hao, delivered an outstanding performance with 24 kills and 24 assists, earning him the Player of the Series award. Elk displayed exceptional kiting abilities and target selection on champions like Zeri and Jinx, while Luo “ON” Wen-Jun provided perfect protective support as Lulu throughout all four games.

Despite Kindred’s struggles in the jungle at MSI this year, BLG’s 21-year-old jungler, Peng “XUN” Li-Xun, excelled on the champion in game two. He led the team with eight kills and only a single death, helping secure the fastest game time of the day. It was a collective team effort, with every player outplaying their opponents and causing T1 to hesitate on critical plays that could have altered the series outcome.

Now, BLG is set to face off against JD Gaming in the finals, the ultimate challenge of the tournament. While JDG has remained undefeated so far, they did lose two games against T1 in their upper-bracket matchup. It could be BLG’s strongest form yet and their best opportunity to claim the MSI championship when they take the stage tomorrow at 6am CT.
