Bengi, T1’s Head Coach, Poised to Make History at Worlds 2022 with Summoner’s Cup Victory

T1 and DRX Clash in League of Legends Worlds 2022 Finals

After a month of thrilling action, only two teams remain in the 2022 World Championship of League of Legends.

This weekend, T1 and DRX will face off in an explosive battle filled with multiple storylines that could make history. One coach, in particular, has the chance to leave his mark if T1 emerges victorious. Bae “Bengi” Seong-woong, T1’s interim head coach, could become the first person to win the tournament both as a player and a coach.

Since retiring from pro play in 2017, Bengi has been coaching League of Legends. Although he last played in the LPL for Vici Gaming, he is most famous for his time with SK Telecom T1 from 2013 to 2016. During that period, he won Worlds three times alongside legendary players like Bang, Wolf, Duke, Impact, and the greatest player of all time, Faker.

After a two-year hiatus from the pro scene, Bengi returned as the head coach for T1’s Challenger team in 2021. He helped the squad win a championship during the Spring Split, earning him a promotion to the main roster’s coaching staff. Now, he is the interim head coach for Worlds 2022.

If T1 secures the championship this weekend, Bengi would enter a category of his own. Not many League of Legends players transition to coaching, which means the veteran jungler could hold this record for a long time.

However, Bengi relies on the new generation of T1 talent to defeat DRX in the finals of Worlds 2022. The underdogs have created an exciting Cinderella story, and all that’s missing is the fairy tale ending where they lift the trophy.

Don’t miss the thrilling conclusion of this incredible event on Saturday, November 5.
