Adam Dominates on Darius in Team BDS’s First Game at Worlds 2023
European League of Legends fans know that Team BDS’s top laner, Adam, is a force to be reckoned with when he plays Darius. Unfortunately, Team Whales from the VCS learned this the hard way in their first game at Worlds 2023.
Just 10 minutes into the match, Team Whales tried to gank Adam’s Darius in the top lane with three players. Despite low mana, Adam fought back with the help of his jungler, Sheo, and took down Whales’ top laner Sparda and jungler Bean, who were playing Renekton and Viego.
Adam’s cast of Decimate (Q) and the crowd control from his teammate playing Rell allowed him to survive the skirmish and deal significant damage. Although his health was low, Adam managed to heal himself and secure a triple kill.
Later in the game, Whales’ support Bie appeared in the top lane to charm and knock up Darius with Rakan’s abilities. However, Adam was able to heal himself and continue fighting, eventually securing his dominance in the laning phase.
By the end of the fight, Adam was 5/0/1, while Sparda was 0/4/0. Adam and Team BDS went on to win the first game of the series convincingly. Whales adjusted their strategy in the following games by banning Darius and ultimately won the series.
Despite being a solo queue legend, Darius is not a common pick in professional play. However, Adam has extensive experience playing Darius in professional games compared to other players in major regions.
In his career, Adam has played Darius in 23 games with a record of 17-6. In comparison, Darius has only appeared in 38 major region pro games since 2021. Seeing Adam’s success with the champion raises the question of when other top laners will start picking Darius in pro games.
