Azael makes contract changes with Riot, moves to freelance position

Riot Games Caster Azael Moves into Contract Role, Expanding Casting Options

After working for Riot Games for six years, popular League of Legends caster Isaac “Azael” Cummings-Bentley has transitioned into a contract role with the company. This change allows him to explore casting options outside of League without being tied to a contractual obligation with Riot. Despite this, Azael will continue to cast the league on a full-time basis during the Summer Split.

This announcement comes shortly after Azael casted the grand finals of the 2021 League Mid-Season Invitational between Royal Never Give Up and DWG KIA alongside fellow freelance shoutcaster Clayton “CaptainFlowers” Raines. Azael, an esports veteran, has a history in games like Starcraft II and World of Warcraft as both a caster and a pro player. While it’s uncertain if he will return to these games during his free time, it’s clear that Azael’s expertise extends beyond League of Legends.

Other well-known talents in the League scene, such as CaptainFlowers and LEC host Sjokz, have also made the transition to freelance roles in recent years. Azael will make his return to casting in the LCS next month when the North America league resumes on June 4th.
